– The film was inspired by a 1951 science fiction short story called “The Time Machine”, written by HG Wells.

– The time machine used in the movie was built from a DeLorean DMC-12, a sports car produced by the DeLorean Motor Company between 1981 and 1983.

– Michael J. Fox, the actor who plays the protagonist Marty McFly, almost didn't get the role due to his busy schedule with filming the series “Back to the Future”. He ended up agreeing to do the film only if he could continue working on the series.

– Director Robert Zemeckis said that the intention was to have the car fly at the end of the film, but due to budget constraints, they had to settle for a scene where the car simply glides over water.
– The character of Biff Tannen, played by Thomas F. Wilson, is based on a bully that director Robert Zemeckis had as a child.

– Christopher Lloyd, the actor who plays Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown had to audition for the role before he was finally hired.

– Despite being one of the most popular films of the 1980s, “Bright Night” was barely nominated for an Oscar due to its sci-fi comedy nature.
– The film grossed US$ 210 million at the worldwide box office, making it the 19th highest-grossing film of the 1980s.
